Plant Swap

Join us to expand your plant collection while making new friends!

The Curtis Memorial Library volunteer plant team are excited to lead you through a fun and informative Plant Swap. Registration is required to make sure all participants leave with plants.

How it works:

  • Use your personal plants to take some cuttings and root them prior to the swap. Not sure how? Watch the plant team’s past program: https://vimeo.com/showcase/9897340/video/999198692
  • Label each plant with what they are and its care instructions.
  • Package each individual plant to swap. Place them in a bag to give away. Remember CML has a tool to make paper pots if you want to borrow it. https://minerva.maine.edu/record=b4164560~S11
  • On the day of the swap, bring in some plants to trade with others. (Do not bring more than 10).

At our plant swap, we will inspect your plants to make sure they are disease-free and have fun learning about our plant journeys. Then the rounds of the swap will begin. During each round, each participant will take turns swapping one of their plants for one of someone else’s displayed plants. After each round participants will put their new plant in their “take home pile.” This process will be repeated until we run out of plants to swap.

Have fun, share plants and join us!
