BDA Speaker Series hosts 3 Local Entrepreneurs 05/19/21 at 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

BDA Speaker Series hosts 3 Local Entrepreneurs

BDA Speaker Series presents three local entrepreneurs: Nate Wildes, Sascha Deri, and Anna Cockrell.

Nate Wildes is Executive Director of Live+Work in Maine.  Nate is focused on raising awareness about the career opportunities and world-class quality of life experienced by those of us who live and work in Maine. A University of Maine graduate who followed employment to the mid-west only to come running back to the Way Life Should Be, Nate knows first-hand how under-appreciated life in Maine is – and how much opportunity there is for our future. Nate is also co-founder of Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick, Maine – his self-serving effort to create the kind of community he wants to raise a family in.

Sascha Deri is CEO of bluShift Aerospace, founded in 2014. The company made history on January 31, 2021 with the first commercial rocket launch powered by bio-derived fuel in the world, using a proprietary modular hybrid rocket engine that is also unique to the aerospace industry. Sascha is a recognized expert and entrepreneur in the alternative and renewable energy sector. Prior to founding bluShift, he founded and is CEO of altE, a successful national renewable energy product distribution and light manufacturing company. He grew up in Maine and earned a degree in physics from Earlham College and a second degree in electrical engineering from University of Southern Maine. He lives in Brunswick, Maine, with his wife and two daughters.

Anna Cockrell is the Practice Administrator for Casco Bay Dental a family dental practice in Brunswick that she operates with her husband. Prior to her current role, she worked as a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist and provided rehabilitative care to patients for many years. She transitioned from clinical care to full time administration when they purchased Casco Bay Dental in 2017. Anna’s areas of expertise include change management, quality improvement, and systems thinking. She has served on the Quality Committee for Oasis Free Clinics and the Education and Wellness Group for the Merrymeeting Food Council. She lives in Brunswick with her husband and their two dogs. Anna holds a BS in Prosthetics & Orthotics from University of Washington and an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio University.

Registration will open soon.

2nd Friday Brunswick - Art Walk, Music, Theater logo

Brunswick’s Downtown ArtWalk!

2021 Dates: June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10

Please join us as we take advantage of Brunswick’s wide sidewalks and open space on Maine Street to space out the artists and event attendees at this low key event to make it more like a series of mini events. The BDA is very concerned about the safety and health of the Brunswick Community and we hope people will feel comfortable coming downtown to see the artists displays, the variety of shops, and the many outdoor and indoor dining opportunities, all while adopting safe practices.

The 2nd Friday Brunswick event will occur from 4 to 7 p.m. on the second Friday of July, August, and September 2020.  Event festivities will include an ArtWalk with over 15 artist displays outside on the sidewalks and in several downtown retail shops.

Artists interested in participating in 2nd Friday Brunswick can register for a small fee at: 2ndFRIDAY/events.constantcontact.com/register.  Email admin@brunswickdowntown.org or call 207-729-4439 with questions.

2nd Friday Brunswick schedule of activities, map, artist’s openings, and venues will be published in The Cryer newspaper each month. On-street parking and municipal public parking lots are free.
