Maine State Music Theatre Yard Sale 04/29/23 at 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Maine State Music Theatre Yard Sale

It’s back! The Maine State Music Theatre Yard Sale is returning for a second year after its successful 2022 inaugural event. Directly benefiting the MSMT Turn up the Limelight Campaign, the second annual sale is an all-volunteer produced event geared to raise funds for increasing production costs. The two-day sale will take place rain or shine in the MSMT Production Center on 22 Elm Street in Brunswick on Saturday, April 29th from 9 AM – 2 PM and Sunday, April 30th from 9 AM – 12 PM. A special Preview Sale will be held on Thursday, April 27th from 5 PM – 7 PM with a $20 admission fee payable at the door.

Have something that you want to donate to MSMT to sell for this cause? MSMT is gratefully accepting all gently-used items every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 AM – 12 PM through April 15th, also at the Production Center on Elm Street.

The MSMT Turn up the Limelight Campaign needs to raise $500,000 this year to cover increasing production, supplies and labor costs. For instance, every year MSMT hires over 200 seasonal staff members, 95% of which receive housing in Brunswick as part of their contract. The cost of lighting equipment alone can run $20,000 per show alone; royalties to secure the rights for the musicals is generally $115,000 per show. MSMT is fortunate to have the support of individuals, corporations, governmental entities and granting organizations alike, while also relying on year-round fundraisers such as the 2nd Annual Yard Sale to meet the budget.

For more information on the Yard Sale, or make a gift to MSMT, please email gifts@msmt.org or call 207-725-0150.

An Evening with authors Paul Doiron & Kristen Lindquist 04/29/23 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

An Evening with authors Paul Doiron & Kristen Lindquist

Maine novelist Paul Doiron (author of the Mike Bowditch series) and poet Kristen Lindquist will share the stage on Saturday, April 29, at 7:00 pm in Brunswick for a fundraiser to support literacy education. The evening will feature the two authors reading from their work and in conversation about craft and the power of words. Doiron and Lindquist, who are also a married couple, have lived and written side-by-side for many years, both drawing inspiration from their shared experiences in the Maine landscape. A reception and meet-and-greet with the authors will follow.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Midcoast Literacy, a non-profit organization that provides free literacy programs for people of all ages in midcoast Maine, including the growing number of multilingual families who have recently moved to the Brunswick area.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased from Midcoast Literacy at www.midcoastliteracy.org or by calling 207-443-6384.
