Music in April is THE signature fundraiser for People Plus. It enables us to serve over 1300 People Plus members who represent an ever-increasing population of retirees and elders on the Mid Coast. This non-profit could NOT do it without the income from Music in April – which has become a signature event in our community. The Center has raised over $650,000 from the event over the last 20 years. These last few years have demonstrated exactly how vital People Plus is to the lives of the older adult populations. In addition to hundreds of classes, clubs and meals held safely at the Center, we made over four thousand deliveries of groceries, food pantry boxes, meals and prescriptions – and provided over 30,000 miles of transportation – just last year, keeping seniors safe!
People Plus serves the greater Brunswick community by offering a variety of activities to support engaged, healthy and independent lives for older adults, as well as hosting the Teen Center where young people can meet safely to explore creative outlets, eat a healthy meal, and develop into well-rounded adults. People Plus also provides outreach and transportation services, and offers many volunteer opportunities.
People Plus wishes to thank Lead Sponsors Coastal Landing Retirement Community, Mid Coast-Parkview Health Maine Health, Bill Dodge Auto Group, Rusty Lantern Market, Bowdoin College, Priority Real Estate Group, Bangor Savings Bank, Bath Savings Institution, and Maine State Credit Union. Please join Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association for a panel presentation exploring the different aspects of Brunswick’s waterfront!
From commercial fishing to recreational boating to planning for how these uses work together amidst a changing environment, this will be a conversational event designed to foster communications between members of the community and those who work on and manage the town’s working waterfront.
Samples of local seafood along with Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association’s Maine Coast Monkfish Stew will be served. The stew is produced by Hurricane Soups & Premium Chowders in Greene, Maine using sustainably harvested monkfish along with Maine produce and dairy. The proceeds from the sale of the Stew benefit MCFA’s Fishermen Feeding Mainers program that donates fresh seafood to schools, food pantries and community groups statewide.
This event will be offered as a hybrid – you can either join via Zoom, or in person atMaine Coast Heritage Trust’s office.
Registration is required. > www.btlt.org/events/getting-to-know-our-waterfront/
