Lisa & Scott Cylinder, collaborative studio Art Jewelers for 33 years, are teaching a basic/intermediate Jewelry Class in their Brunswick studio, “the Wedge.” Starting September 7th and running for 8 consecutive Tuesday evenings, the Cylinders will be teaching the basic knowledge of metals and jewelry making. The Wedge is Lisa & Scott Cylinder’s Studio and teaching space located in Fort Andross in Brunswick, ME. Lisa & Scott have been collaborative jewelry artiste for the past 33 years and have exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally. They bring extensive knowledge and experiences to their classroom.

Each Spring and Fall, they will be offering 8 week beginner jewelry/metals classes to learn the basic skills of Art Jewelry making. Students with experience are welcome to sign up to brush up on and improve their skill sets. The classes are limited to 4 students per session for a rich, personalized experience. Explore Brunswick in a unique and exciting way – through a Red Cloak Walking Tour! Offered daily, these walking tours will give you an inside look into the historic area and some of the earlier residents as well as a spirit or two that inhabit the area.

Hear real history as well as little known folklore as you experience a walk back in time on the easy stroll through one of the historic sections in town. Tours are offered several times every day through November.

The tours are private for your family or group and are appropriate for all ages. Guided from point to point by your professional storyteller, in real time, the walks are done by phone via conference call. This allows for questions, interaction and personalization on your Maine “Adventure in Discovery.” Up to 10 people can join in on the call for $29.95 total.

Join us outside in the fresh air to support your health AND the
one-to-one mentoring matches of Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Bath/Brunswick at the first annual 5K Run/Walk for Kids! This event is
hosted by Flight Deck Brewing and Wild Oats at Brunswick Landing!
There will be a one-mile free kids’ “fun run” prior to the race’s
start (Fun Run is not individually timed)!

Summer Walking Tour: Park Row and the Mall

Park Row and the Mall, Summer Walking Tour led by Don Westfall.

Learn about the history on Pejepscot History Center’s very own doorstep. With cows, swamps, and trolley lines, this beautiful tree-lined street wasn’t always so idyllic! As its impressive houses were erected, the street and eponymous park took on its characteristically distinguished personality. This tour explores the development of the street, notable buildings, and their occupants.

Please note that this tour begins outside PHC at 159 Park Row, Brunswick, Maine. Participants meet at starting point. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.

Space is limited. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes.

What can the New England cultural landscape and historic gardens tell us about people, places and the plants they treasure?

Through beautiful images, come explore ways in which museums and historic sites have made history come alive through landscape and garden rejuvenation projects from Newport to Bar Harbor… and the Skolfield-Whittier Garden at Pejepscot History Center!

The region’s garden and landscape legacy is rich and varied.  Sometimes called a ‘three dimensional textbook of history’ these spaces open new opportunities for understanding the past and inviting others to join in its exploration.

LUCINDA A. BROCKWAY is an award-winning expert in landscape preservation, planning, and design dedicated to preserving the rich natural and cultural balance that creates New England’s landscape legacy.  Brockway’s firm, Past Designs, specializes in the preservation and design of a number of public and private commissions that balance heritage landscape needs with contemporary living.  She has developed award winning landscape designs on historic properties and written more than forty master plans, reports and assessments for cultural landscapes nationwide.  Much of her work included research, plans and designs for such notable sites as Fort Ticonderoga (New York),  Newport’s Bellevue Avenue estates, and work for the National Trust from New England to Texas.  She is the author of two books and seventeen published articles. Her work has been featured in Old House JournalVictoria Magazine, Colonial Homes, Nineteenth Century and Accent as well as innumerable professional and trade publicationsA popular speaker and facilitator, she is currently an instructor for the National Preservation Institute, teaching three-day programs in landscape preservation for organizations from Charleston, South Carolina to Honolulu, Hawaii.  Ms. Brockway’s projects have been the recipient of thirteen awards including recognition by the Garden Club of America, the Federated Garden Clubs of Maine, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Preservation League of New York State, the State of New Jersey, the Massachusetts Historic Commission and many others.
