Summer Walking Tour: The Immigrants in St. John\'s Cemetery 08/21/22 at 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm

Summer Walking Tour: The Immigrants in St. John\'s Cemetery

August 21 Pejepscot History Center Summer Walking Tour

The Immigrants in St. John’s Cemetery with Barbara Desmarais & Cathy Leonard

By 1750, colonial English and Ulster Scot Protestants had overtaken the native Wabanaki; a century later the descendants of those colonists faced their own invasion—by Catholics from Europe and Canada. Join Barbara Desmarais and Catherine Leonard at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery for stories of Franco, Irish, and other immigrants. St. John’s Cemetery is adjacent to the Varney Cemetery and can be accessed from Pine Street, which dead ends near the cemetery entrance. Parking is along Pine Street. Carpooling is encouraged as possible.
