Peaceful Means Workshop: Enhancing Communication Across Generations 03/16/24 at 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Peaceful Means Workshop: Enhancing Communication Across Generations

Peaceful Means, a dynamic duo formed by Leah Boyd and Heather Pierson, is excited to offer a transformative workshop aimed at fostering better communication across all generations. Through a combination of exercises, including games and music, attendees will learn practical tools for Nonviolent Communication and community building.

The workshop, set to take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick on March 16th, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, offers take-away skills participants can put to immediate use at home, work, school, or in broader community groups. “In an increasingly polarized world, it takes effort to cultivate meaningful relationships across our many differences. Peaceful Means will be sharing some tried and tested methods to help us do this with more intention and effectiveness,” says Rev. Kharma Amos, Minister of the UU Church of Brunswick. “We are especially excited about doing this in an intergenerational environment, with people of all ages coming together.”

“In today’s fast-paced world, effective communication is more crucial than ever,” says Leah Boyd, co-founder of Peaceful Means. “Our workshop aims to bridge generational divides by empowering individuals with practical skills they can immediately apply in their everyday interactions.”

Whether you’re a parent striving to better connect with your teenager, a manager seeking to foster a more collaborative work environment, or a community leader working towards collective understanding, this workshop will offer something useful for you.

“We believe that communication is the cornerstone of harmonious relationships and thriving communities,” adds Heather Pierson, co-founder of Peaceful Means. “Through this workshop, we hope to cultivate a culture of empathy, active listening, and mutual respect.”

Toben Cooney-Callnan, Director of Religious Exploration is excited by the intergenerational aspect of this event, “Leah and Heather do this work through music and interactive games so it’s accessible to both children and adults,” he says, “It’s never too early to engage in this amazing work and what a fun way to do it!”

Attendees can also look forward to enjoying light snacks and refreshments throughout the session. Registration is currently open, on a sliding scale ($5-$25).

MARCH MADNESS FUND-RAISER TO BENEFIT MAINE FISHING, CONSERVATION

Fisheries & Wildlife Commissioner Judy Camuso Featured Speaker

Freeport Hilton Garden March 16, 2024 — Dinner, Auction, Raffle, and Fish Stories

FREEPORT, MAINE, January 2024 — Get a jump start on the spring season with a fund-raiser to benefit Maine fishing and conservation by joining the Merrymeeting Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited (MMBTU) at its “March Brown Madness” dinner, auction, raffle, and fellowship event in Freeport.

Members and the public are invited to attend the annual gala dinner as we gather sportspeople and conservationists to meet old friends and new, and raise funds for the vital local conservation and community work of MMBTU.  The event takes place on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at The Hilton Garden Inn, 5 Park Street, Freeport, from 5-9 p.m.

MMBTU programs focus on the local community and include sponsoring area youth for the week-long Trout Camp to learn about flyfishing for wild trout and salmon, getting involved in area stream restoration such as dam removal and fish passage on Freeport’s Frost Gully Brook, and staffing programs to teach fly casting and fly-tying.

Judy Camuso Featured Speaker

Special speaker for MMBTU’s “March Brown Madness” will be the Commissioner of Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Judy Camuso.  She will update us on IF&W’s plans and progress in dealing with treasured Maine species like brook trout, landlocked salmon, and Arctic char.

Fishing Trips, Outdoor Gear

“March Brown Madness” also offers the chance to upgrade outdoor gear and plan for exciting new adventures in 2024 as an auction, silent auctions, and raffles will be a fun part of the evening for a great cause.

The fund-raiser will feature top quality items from premier brands including L. L. Bean, Patagonia, Orvis, Yeti, and many others.  Thanks to generous donors, attendees will have the chance to experience world class fishing with outfitters like Cobb’s Pierce Pond Camps and Bradford Camps.  MMBTU directors and members also are donating custom fly selections and special flyfishing trips for trout and striped bass.

Tickets for the dinner and program must be purchased in advance from the MMBTU website, www.mmbtu.org/.  The cost is $50 per person or sponsor a table for eight people for only $350 and receive $200 worth of general raffle tickets.  Take the opportunity to purchase additional general raffle tickets on or before March 9 and we will give you a 2 for 1 bonus on your purchase.

For more information contact MMBTU President Jeff Bush jbush@tumaine.org or at 856-448-1925.
