History Happy HourJoin us for another History Happy Hour! This time we will enjoy a presentation by Nick McCrea, managing editor of the Times Record, who will give us his take on our annual theme of 2024: Crime and Punishment. “Policing and journalism each have seen monumental changes and challenges recent years, some of which are closely linked. Police have faced leaps in scrutiny and accountability since just about everyone carries a camera in their pocket. This has made it clear that the “story” isn’t always the true story and has led to increased accountability for journalists to get it right. In addition, stories on the internet live forever. A person’s misdeeds can always pop up in a simple Google search, following them through their jobs, relationships, etc. What can be done to balance the importance of covering crime with an individual’s ability to move on with their life? How has newspaper coverage of law and order shifted? What can we expect to see in the future?” Tickets are $6 for PHC Members and $10 for non-members. You can purchase tickets on our website HERE |
