Untold Stories After School Program: Nice to Meet You! Victorian Calling Cards and Social Customs

Thursday, March 3, 3:30-5 pm: Nice to Meet You! Victorian Calling Cards and Social Customs with Aimée Keithan

In the days before cell phones and the internet, nearly everyone had a unique “calling card”. These paper cards were used to introduce yourself to new people, send messages, and even tell people you’d stopped by if they weren’t home. They could be simple or very elaborate. Everyone from young ladies just out of high school to famous men with notable careers had them.

In this session, we’ll talk about what we can tell about a card’s owner by looking at it, and children will create their own unique calling card to take home. Register now. For children grades 3 through 5.
