If you’re a current volunteer at Pejepscot History Center, interested in starting some volunteering, or just curious what our volunteers do, you’re invited to this year’s Volunteer Kick-off!
We’ll be gathering at our headquarters at 159 Park Row at 10am to talk about what we do at PHC and how people can get involved. We’ll also have a presentation from John Cross, College Secretary at Bowdoin, to give an overview of the history of Brunswick and Bowdoin and put our museums and collections in context. All new volunteers will get a welcome packet and have a chance to connect with each other and with experienced volunteers, who can share their own experiences with volunteering at PHC.
We’ll then break for a light lunch catered by Wild Oats before splitting off into two groups: one to the Skolfield Whittier House to hear about the forensic career of Frank Whittier, and one group to the Joshua Chamberlain House to hear about the lives of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and his first wife Mary, who lived in the house.
This is free to join, just make sure to RSVP to outreach@pejepscot.org!
