Bowdoin College Museum of Art Opening Tour and Reception of Art, Ecology, and the Resilience of a Maine Island: The Monhegan WildlandsOpening Tour and Reception of Art, Ecology, and the Resilience of a Maine Island: The Monhegan Wildlands Thursday, December 12, 2024 | 4:30 p.m. | Bowdoin College Museum of Art Please join us for an opening tour of Art, Ecology, and the Resilience of a Maine Island: The Monhegan Wildlands led by co-curators Barry Logan, Samuel S. Butcher Professor in the Natural Sciences and Chair of Biology Department, Bowdoin College, Jennifer Pye, Director of the Monhegan Museum of Art & History, and Frank Goodyear, Co-Director, Bowdoin College Museum of Art. A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the Museum’s entryway Pavilion. On view through June 1, 2025, this exhibition brings together artworks, objects and representations of ecological inquiry, and historical documents and photographs to chart forest conversion and recovery on the island. Monhegan’s history offers lessons for us all. Free and open to the public. No registration is required. The tour will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Museum’s entryway Pavilion.
