Music in April is THE signature fundraiser for People Plus. It enables us to serve over 1500 People Plus members who represent an ever-increasing population of retirees and elders on the Mid Coast. This non-profit could NOT do it without the income from Music in April – which has become a fantastic signature event in our community. The Center has raised over $725,000 from the event over the last 21 years. These last few years have demonstrated exactly how vital People Plus is to the lives of the older adult populations. In addition to hundreds of classes, clubs and meals held safely at the Center, we made over four thousand deliveries of groceries, food pantry boxes, meals and prescriptions – and provided over 33,000 miles of transportation – just last year, keeping seniors safe! People Plus serves the greater Brunswick community by offering a variety of activities to support engaged, healthy and independent lives for older adults, as well as hosting the Teen Center where young people can meet safely to explore creative outlets, eat a healthy meal, and develop into well-rounded adults. People Plus also provides outreach and transportation services, and offers many volunteer opportunities. People Plus wishes to thank Lead Sponsors Coastal Landing Retirement Community, Mid Coast-Parkview Health Maine Health, Bill Dodge Auto Group, Bowdoin College, Live + Work in Maine, Priority Real Estate Group, Bath Savings Institution, Riley Insurance Agency, and Rusty Lantern Market. Documentary Screening “A Watershed Moment” - Restoring Fish Passage to Maine’s Bagaduce RiverTuesday, April 16, Joshua’s Restaurant, 123 Maine St, Brunswick, 6:00 – 8:00 pm The April meeting of the Merrymeeting Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited will feature a free screening of the documentary feature film, “A Watershed Moment.” The film tells the story of an all-hands effort involving fishermen, three coastal Maine communities, non-profit organizations, and state and federal management agencies to restore fish passage throughout the Bagaduce River Watershed in Maine. These grassroots efforts to bring back alewife, a keystone species that has allowed fishing communities to thrive, have been remarkably successful. An unlikely group of partners, the story of this partnership is rooted in collaboration and can act as a beacon of hope for other communities and watersheds involved in fish passage restoration and community-driven science, co-management, and stewardship. “A Watershed Moment” is a story about people, fish, and the water that connects them. A panel discussion after the screening will feature:
