Social Goose Restaurant & Bar is a family-owned neighborhood sports pub in the heart of downtown Brunswick that blends comfort food, entertainment, and community into one spot. It’s known for scratch-made pub food, a huge variety of gluten-free options, 28 beers on tap, rotating drink options, and a laid-back atmosphere where everyone feels welcome–families during the day, sports fans during the game, and nightlife crowds after dark.
Upstairs, it’s a lively restaurant and sports bar with TVs, pool tables, arcade games, happy hour specials, brunch, bingo, karaoke, and weekly events. Downstairs is The Den, a live entertainment venue that hosts bands, DJs, comedy nights, dance parties, and private party rentals. They offer budget-friendly food & beverage options for everyone. The vibe is casual, energetic, and social. It’s somewhere you can grab a smash burger and a beer after work, bring the kids for tacos and bingo night, celebrate a birthday, watch the game with friends, or stay late for live music and dancing. At its core, Social Goose is about comfort, fun, and bringing people together.
Barry and Cat Hull are Brunswick residents who both went to school in Brunswick, moved away, and came back in 2012 with the dream of opening a business in the same town their children would grow up in. They’re hands-on owners who believe great food, cold drinks, live entertainment, and genuine hospitality can turn an ordinary night out into a memorable experience. From planning events and booking bands to greeting guests and jumping in wherever needed, Barry and Cat are deeply involved in the day-to-day energy of the business.
Barry brings the personality and people-first vision that gives Social Goose its fun, welcoming atmosphere, while Cat brings the steady, behind-the-scenes drive that keeps things organized. Together, they’ve created more than just a restaurant and bar–they’ve built a local gathering place where families, friends, musicians, sports fans, and visitors can all feel at home. Their goal has always been simple: good food, good people, good times, and a place Brunswick can call its own.
“We wanted to build something in our hometown where friends and family, locals, college students, visitors, and regulars could all come together under one roof. We saw an opportunity to create a space that combined great casual food, nightlife, sports-bar energy, family-friendly events, and live entertainment in a way that Brunswick didn’t fully have before. We wanted Social Goose to become a true gathering spot for the community–the kind of place where there’s always something happening, and everyone feels comfortable walking through the door. Being on Maine Street also puts Social Goose right in the heart of the action, making it accessible to both locals and people visiting the Midcoast area.”
People are often surprised by how many gluten-free options Social Goose offers. Most of their fried foods are made gluten-free, which isn’t something typically expected from a pub-style restaurant.
And honestly, many people don’t realize how much entertainment happens at Social Goose until they visit, either. From bingo and karaoke to live bands, DJs, weekend brunch, fundraisers, pool leagues, and themed parties! Social Goose changes personalities throughout the week depending on who walks through the door, and that’s part of what makes it special.
Stop in and see Joe at Slam Tilt Records + Games downstairs from the restaurant–a retro pinball arcade and hobby shop located in the same building as Social Goose. It’s your go-to destination for vinyl collectors, retro gamers, and pinball fans alike.
Barry and Cat enjoy bringing their dog Lulu to the dog park by the walking path and visiting the variety of farmers markets around town.
$20 – $30 per person for a great sandwich and a drink!
“Our Nachos are the best, hands down! Fried corn tortilla chips smothered in house-made cheese sauce, sour cream, and pico de gallo make this gluten-free treat delicious for all!”
