Happy National Coffee Day, Brunswick! Whether you are looking for your morning pick-me-up, a unique cafe experience, or some beans to brew at home, our town has you covered. Although this is not a comprehensive list of every coffee in Brunswick, it is a great place to start for signature espresso drinks and locally roasted beans.

 

Tern Coffee & Tea

At 141 Maine Street, you will find Tern, a Maine-based micro-roastery specializing in sourcing the sweetest coffees possible. Tern focuses on care for the planet through each step of the process, from low-impact electric roasting to fully recyclable packaging options. Not only is Tern’s packaging good for the Earth, but it is also unique; their beans come in colorfully labeled cans that are sure to catch your eye!

Reverie Coffee House

Just down the road at 117 Maine Street is Reverie Coffee House, a cozy, community-minded coffee shop serving Maine-roasted coffee from Time & Tide. Reverie values community and connection. Their “Kid Korner” is a great place for parents to let their children play and to connect with other families in the area. They are also big supporters of local artists and makers. While you wait for your coffee, you can browse the display of locally made products (and maybe head back up to the register with a new mug, pair of earrings, or soap!) Their fall menu, inspired by scary movies, is full of must-try drinks like The Blair Witch Project, a black sesame, ube, hot honey latte topped with toasted black sesame seeds!

Ritual Bakehouse

Primarily a bakery, Ritual Bakehouse is a great option for coffee and a treat. Led in by the scent of freshly baked croissants, you will find Ritual Bakehouse at 111 Maine Street. With a bright space, always filled with fresh flowers, and window seating looking out upon our downtown, Ritual is a perfect spot for your morning coffee or a midday snack!

The Abbey

The Abbey, at 87 Maine Street, is a unique coffee shop meets experimental cocktail bar. Beginning as gatherings with friends in a small apartment, The Abbey has found its permanent home in the heart of downtown Brunswick, expanding its mission of community connection through frequent events. Their entire menu is available all day long, so if you are looking for a late-night coffee, they have you covered.

Elevenses Cafe & Bakery

Wander down the road to find Elevenses at 50 Maine Street. Described as “Maine’s most magical cafe & bakery”, their fantasy-themed menu items and decor will transport you directly to The Shire. Grab one of their many uniquely named drinks, such as the “Ever Watchful Red Eye” or “The (Flat) White Wizard” along with your Second Breakfast and take in the cozy and fantastical vibes!

Dutchman’s Wood Fired Bagels

Down in Fort Andros, at 14 Maine Street, lives Dutchman’s Wood Fired Bagels. Started in 2022 as a temporary pop-up, Dutchman’s quickly grew in popularity, leading to their now permanent space inside the mill. Along with their bagels, Dutchman’s has a full cafe menu serving locally roasted Time & Tide coffee. Grab a bagel breakfast sandwich and coffee, and enjoy their beautiful space at the beginning of our Maine Street!

Bohemian Coffee House & Deli

You can find Bohemian Coffee House & Deli, a long-time staple in Brunswick’s downtown, at 4 Railroad Ave. Serving local coffee and espresso, Bohemian has drinks for everyone’s coffee preferences, from a simple drip to a fancy latte. Right by the Amtrak Downeaster Station and Brunswick Visitor Center, Bohemian is often the first stop for travelers coming into Brunswick to grab a caffeine fix or a meal.

Dog Bar Jim: The Coffee Shop

Dog Bar Jim, located at 90 Union Street, is a cozy and eclectic coffee shop serving coffee, bagels, and more. They are committed to “nourishing our community with high-quality products served in a warm and inviting atmosphere”. Espresso at Dog Bar Jim is made using a beautiful manual espresso machine, something they take great pride in. With its proximity to the Bowdoin Campus and unique atmosphere, Dog Bar Jim is a favorite amongst Bowdoin students serving as a place for them to interact with the Brunswick community outside campus.

Wild Oats Bakery & Cafe

On The Landing at 166 Admiral Fitch Ave, you will find Wild Oats, a locally-owned, from-scratch bakery, deli, and cafe. There you can find drip coffee, house-made cold brew, and espresso drinks as well as pastries, soups & sandwiches, and so much more! Wild Oats serves Maine roasted Carrabassett Coffee and sells retail bags of Wicked Joe. Their most popular hand-crafted espresso drinks include the Bowdoin Maple Latte, Snickerdoodle Latte, and seasonal favorite, Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Wicked Joe

Wicked Joe, based out of Topsham, is a family-owned organic coffee roastery founded in 2003. You can find their coffee sold in over 8,500 grocery stores around the country, including right here in Brunswick. Wicked Joe values quality, community, and sustainability throughout their roasting process with initiatives such as the use of energy-efficient roasters, solar power, and 100% organic ingredients. You can find their coffee at several local retailers and restaurants, including Morning Glory, Hannaford, Wild Oats, Bohemian Coffee House, and more!
