About this Event

Community Self Defense is an open and inclusive workshop designed to allow beginners and experienced martial artists alike develop and deepen situational awareness, de-escalation skills, and a better understanding of legal implications of self-defense. Led by an experienced practitioner of martial arts, this class is free and open to the public. Masks are required to attend this event (some will be available on site if you need one). Join us to train and build skills to help the whole community!

About your instructor:
Cody Obropta is a lifelong martial artist with over 25 years of experience. He holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Songahm Taekwondo and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Warrior Krav Maga (unrelated to the Israeli combat technique). Cody began training at just five years old and has since become a passionate instructor and school owner. He recently took ownership of Campbell’s ATA Black Belt Academy in Bangor, Maine, where he leads Taekwondo training for students of all ages. Cody is dedicated to empowering others with confidence, focus, and practical skills through martial arts.
