On March 21, 2016, the Brunswick Town Council adopted an ordinance banning polystyrene foam (“Styrofoam”) food and beverage containers in the Town of Brunswick. The ordinance does not take effect until October 1, 2016. Recognizing that this ordinance may have a direct impact on your business activities, the Town wants to remind the Brunswick business community that Styrofoam cups, plates and bowls may not be sold directly nor used for packaging food and beverages. If you currently sell polystyrene foam food or beverage containers in a retail facility, you will need to use your inventory by September 30, 2016. If you use polystyrene foam food or beverage containers at events, you will need to use alternative materials after September 30, 2016.
