Tell Brunswick about your business:

MPWellness was founded on a simple belief: Every individual deserves to be understood before recommendations are made. For more than three decades, this work has centered on careful observation, individualized movement education, therapeutic acupressure, and Qigong-based practice. Throughout that time, one principle has remained constant: The method follows the individual–not the individual following the method. MPWellness exists to complement medical care by helping individuals develop greater confidence, awareness, and functional capacity through thoughtful guidance and continued observation. The goal is not simply improved movement. It is a greater participation in the activities that give life meaning.

MPWellness Services:

Integrative Movement & Recovery | Individualized movement education designed to improve awareness, confidence, and functional capacity.

Therapeutic Acupressure | Supportive care using traditional principles to encourage balance, comfort, and recovery.

Tai Chi for Recovery & Resilience | Gentle practices that cultivate awareness, balance, and efficient movement.

Taiji Qigong Shibashi | A progressive movement practice that cultivates breathing, awareness, supports lifelong health, mobility, and personal development.

Surgical Preparation and Recovery Support | Movement education and therapeutic support designed to help to prepare the body before surgery and support a faster, smoother recovery after.

Meet the business owner:

Carlos Collado has personally spent over 30 years teaching and studying movement, including martial arts and internal training systems. He’s lived in Brunswick for over 20 years and loves this community.

“I am married to a wonderful wife and have an outstanding son, both of whom have many years of experience in the movement arts. We are bonded not only through family, but also through our common interests. I am very passionate about my work and am driven to share this powerful information with everyone. My goal is to provide people with knowledge and skills that they can use in real time on a daily basis.”

Why Brunswick?

“Because I have lived here and have seen the many changes this community has gone through. Our population is on the more mature side, and the information I am sharing will help our people deal with the many challenges aging and living life presents.”

What is something that would surprise people to know about you or your business?

One of the things MPWellness clients appreciate is that this work is practical and accessible. It gives you tools you can actually use in your daily life. If you are dealing with issues of body balance, strength, or pain management, then this practice is for you.

What business would you recommend supporting other than your own?

“Maine Street Medical–an alternative to the current status quo of health care. Very personable and most importantly, you are treated like a human being and not just another number. They take the time to listen, you will be seen and heard.”

What’s your favorite Brunswick Activity?

Carlos has two favorite activities: eating at our local spots and walking local trails, specifically Woodward Point Preserve.

What is the average amount of money someone can expect to pay at your business?

Free first consultation visit. $75 an hour for a 1-hour session of movement, and $100 an hour for Therapeutic Qigong and Acupressure sessions. Class bundles for movement sessions are offered with a built in discount–for example: 7 sessions for $385, a savings of $140.

What is your favorite thing that you’re currently selling?

“I don’t sell anything. You could say that I sell a methodology for personal healing.”
