We’re happy to bring back our popular scotch tasting in the Tavern! We have a selection of six fantastic scotches, each paired with a special dish designed by Chef David Pendexter.
Please join us and taste your way through the pairings. We’ll be providing guests with some background on these scotches throughout the event, so it will be an educational experience!
The tasting begins with the smoky, full-bodied Johnnie Double Black from Scotland’s West Coast. With swirls of peat smoke and fruit flavors, and notes of sweet vanilla and spice, the Scotch is complemented by a spicy chipotle bison chili. The second course features the Caol Ila, a fresh, herbal Scotch with a spicy warmth paired with a scallop and speck ham shooter.
Revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all, the Ardbeg 10 is accompanied by a grilled honey glazed fig skewer. Guests will also sample the Talisker Storm, alongside skewered bratwurst with pickled red onion, drizzled with a honey dijon cream sauce. Named “World Whisky of the Year” by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, Chef Pendexter will pair the Ardbeg Uigeadail with rich espresso baked beans, saving the richest, smokiest Scotch, a 16 year old Lagavulin, for last to be served with a dark chocolate molasses cookie with cherry compote.
