Come Celebrate Ability and Independence Associations 50th Anniversary on Sunday May 15th and take the Independence Challenge.

Team IA and Team Androscoggin Bank our premier event sponsor, challenges individuals, businesses and organizations to a race. The 4 annual “Run for Independence” is the only race in Maine focused on giving individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate as a full inclusive and equal competitor.  The theme of the race is to celebrate every individual’s abilities regardless of their disabilities. Every person competes as an equal in their selected race there are no “special” categories. for more info

Lots of Prizes for winners, including over $1400 in CASH!

Take the Independence Team Challenge. Create a team where every member of the team can run in different events.

Kids Fun Run, 1 Mile, 5K, 10K and 10K wheeled division.

A total of 40 medal awards will be given: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in all races and best speed for 5 age groups M & F.

5 team Trophies will be awarded:

  • best overall team speed,
  • most runners on a team
  • most money raised by a team
  • most diverse members on a team
  • most fun outrageous team

Wheeled athletes must use self propelled wheeled vehicles such as recumbent bikes, bikes, wheelchairs, step bikes.

After running join in the festivities, join in the celebration. Lots of fun for the kids, music and more!
