August 21 Below the Falls: A Walk Along Brunswick’s Historic Lower Androscoggin River Front with Fred Koerber
Join local historian and archeologist Fred Koerber for a walk along the lower Androscoggin River, tracing its history from the time of earliest occupation by indigenous people to current use. The river has experienced ice dams and great floods, epic pollution, and years of use and misuse. Below the falls the shoreline has served as a barrier, a navigable conveyance, a watershed, a home to shipbuilding, and the site of reborn recreational activities. The tour meets at 1pm at the Chamberlain Museum at 226 Maine Street in Brunswick where admission will be collected. The cost is $5 for non-members and free to PHS members. The tour is limited to 20 people; please call Pejepscot Historical Society at 207.729.6606 or email firstname.lastname@example.org before noon on Friday, August 19 to register.
