Bowdoin College Professor of History, Patrick Rael, author of the new “Eighty-Eight Years: The Long Death of Slavery in the United States,” kicks off our 2016 Winter-Spring Lecture Series at Curtis Memorial Library with this talk commemorating Black History Month.
When is it appropriate to re-name something if it was originally named for someone or something now considered racist or otherwise offensive? Professor Rael’s talk will look at local examples and put them in a state and national context.
Tickets are $3 PHS members, $5 general admission at the door.
