Film Screening and Conversation: “The Temptation of Doctor Antonio” by Federico Fellini
Saint Anthony (251-356) retreated into the Egyptian desert only to be tormented by fantastical visions. His experience, foundational for Christian monasticism, inspired many modern artists. Bowdoin faculty members offer introductions to the origins and allure of Saint Anthony’s legend and discuss the masterful film by Federico Fellini, The Temptation of Doctor Antonio, 1962, based on the saintâ??s visions. Organized in conjunction with the exhibition The Temptation of Saint Anthony at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art.
Free and open to the public. Presented by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art.
