This documentary chronicles a theatrical project realized by the German filmmaker and theater director Christoph Schlingensief in Vienna in 2000 in response to xenophobia and the rise of right-wing populism as a political force. One of the most visionary European artists of his generation, Christoph Schlingensief (1960-2010) believed in confronting political ideologues with the consequences of their inflammatory rhetoric, insisting on the healing power of Art. The film will be introduced by Joachim Homann, curator, and will be followed by a conversation with Bowdoin faculty members Jens Elias Klenner, Zachary Rothschild, Jeffrey Selinger, and Birgit Tautz.
Presented by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. Free and open to the public.
