Mid Coast Hospital and Maine Center for Cancer Medicine are offering an educational series focused on improving the lifestyles of cancer survivors. Open to anyone in the community touched by cancer, “Embracing Life after Cancer” is an informative series, covering a range of topics that address the unique needs of cancer survivors as they move beyond diagnosis and treatment.
The spring 2015 calendar begins March 16, and includes seven sessions offered by area experts discussing the physical, emotional, and nutritional health of cancer survivors. Each session will address questions and concerns, while providing information and resources to support the ongoing health of patients and their families. All sessions will be held 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Mid Coast Hospital, 123 Hospital Drive, Brunswick, and are free and open to the public. Schedule and topics are as follows:
- Monday, March 16: Moving Beyond Treatment
- Tuesday, March 31: Physical Challenges after Treatment
- Wednesday, April 15: Psychological Reactions to Cancer Diagnosis and Ways to Cope
- Monday, May 4: Genetics and Second Cancers
- Monday, May 11: Nutrition and Cancer, Changing Your Habits
- Monday, June 1: Moving Toward Health: Exercise and Survival
Mid Coast Hospital’s Cancer Care program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer for the quality of its comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care. The team of oncologists and surgeons is committed to cancer screening and prevention, the earliest possible diagnosis, and aggressive and advanced treatment of all types of cancers.
