On August 21, the people across the United States will fall under the path of a solar eclipse. The so-called Great American Total Solar Eclipse will darken skies from Oregon to South Carolina. While Maine is not in the path of totality, we may be able to view a partial eclipse. Join us for an eclipse presentation by Ron Thompson of the Southern Maine Astronomers, who will explain what an eclipse is, why it occurs so infrequently and how to view it safely using solar glasses. A limited number of solar glasses will be available for attendees to take home.
Remember, it is never safe to look at the sun!
