PUBLIC INVITED TO OPENING OF “LIFE IN A DROP OF WATER” OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT CREATED BY SMCC STUDENTS
Brunswick Public Art invites the community to celebrate the official opening of “Life in a Drop of Water” at the Merrymeeting Dog Park on the Androscoggin River Bicycle & Pedestrian Path on Tuesday, September 15, from 5:00-6:00 PM. Parking is available in the Boat Landing lot at the end of Water Street.
Jeff Small, Cynthia Tibbetts and Danielle Staples-Libby, photography students of John Stetson on the Midcoast Campus of Southern Maine Community College at Brunswick Landing, captured the twelve images of phytoplankton and zooplankton found in the Androscoggin River through the lens of a phase-contrast microscope at a magnification of 400x. They were assisted by students Bethany Brown and Tammy St. John of the SMCC Biological Sciences Department in South Portland. The photography in this exhibit is an adjunct to an SMCC project that studies marine life in area bodies of water.
The ten panels of “Life in a Drop of Water” will be on exhibit at the Merrymeeting Dog Park through the summer of 2016, directly across the path from the Androscoggin River.
