SUMMARY:Side Door Coffeehouse
DESCRIPTION:The Side Door Coffeehouse is a venue for local musicians and others (professional and amateur) to share their talents\, and for residents and visitors of the Midcoast community to enjoy great entertainment and conversation in a relaxed setting. Organized by a group of volunteers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick\, the Side Door Coffeehouse operates on the second Friday of every month except August. \nAdmission is $12 for adults and free for children 17 and under. \nThe Friday\, November 14th installment will feature:\nOpen Mic signup at 6:45 pm\nOpen Mic at 7:00\nKat Logan– 8:30-9:30 pm.\nKat Logan is a singer songwriter with influences from folk\, americana\, Celtic\, blues and jazz accompaniment.\nKat has played with many different groups such as Driftwood and Meteora. She is currently working as a solo musician\, and plays on piano and guitar\, accompanying her own tunes and favorites.

SUMMARY:Maine Railroads – When the Good Times Rolled
DESCRIPTION:Midcoast Senior College presents its free speaker series\, Winter Wisdom\, sponsored by The Highlands of Topsham. The seven railroads operating in Maine in the postwar era and an examination of the few key players whose qualifications in leadership led to Maine’s rail industry’s prosperity up to 1980\, followed by a look at its downfall and the current network of Maine’s rail service. Geoffrey Doughty is a retired safety consultant to both the railroad and trucking industries. His career included service with Maine Central Railroad\, railroad safety director for Maine Central\, the Boston and Maine\, and Delaware and Hudson railroads under Guilford management’s consolidation of the three.
