Bowdoin International Music Festival Season 2021

06/29/21 - 08/06/21
2:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Bowdoin International Music Festival Season 2021: June 29 – August 6

It’s our pleasure to introduce the Bowdoin International Music Festival’s 2021 season. Over 200 students and 50 faculty and guest artists will be on campus in Brunswick, Maine for a dynamic summer of performance and learning.

While we are overjoyed to make music in person again, unfortunately, we are not able to invite public audiences back to the recital hall yet due to our COVID protocols and campus agreement with Bowdoin College.

All concerts and events will be livestreamed online from Studzinski Recital Hall for free.

Faculty & Guest Artist Concerts
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

This summer we present 18 concerts featuring our faculty and guest artists streamed live from Studzinski Recital Hall. Our faculty present inspiring interpretations of a wide range of chamber works, and Monday ensembles include the Dover Quartet, Miró Quartet, and the Jupiter String Quartet alongside members of the Ying Quartet. Most concerts will be about one hour long with no intermission.

The Charles E. Gamper Festival of Contemporary Music showcases works by living composers and features our Festival fellows. It is programmed by composer-in-residence Derek Bermel. This season’s special Gamper Festival guest is Music from Copland House. The ensemble will present a concert called Passages, which features works by award-winning composers John Harbison, Pierre Jalbert, Annika Socolofsky, and John Musto, who take viewers on spiritual, imagined, real, and personal journeys.

Our talented Young Artists will perform solo and chamber music throughout the season. Program information is typically available on our website a day or two before the concert.
