Sweetest in the Gale
Oratorio Chorale Women’s Chorus
with Mo Nichols, harp, and special guests Girl Singers of Maine
Written in 1942 when the composer was just 29 years old, Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols is a beloved choral work. Using the angelic combination of women’s voices and harp, Britten sets poetry from 14th- to 16th-century England to tell the Christmas narrative and describe the rebirth of spring. This innovative, exciting, and stunningly beautiful piece is a true British treasure.
