Maureen Milliken, the author of the Bernie O’Dea mystery series, is a third-generation newspaper editor, whose books reflect her love of her home state, Maine, and also her affection for journalism, as they draw on her experience as a newspaper reporter and editor in northern New England. In her debut mystery novel Cold Hard News, as spring thaw finally arrives in her small Maine town of Redimere, the town’s secrets begin to emerge. Bernie O’Dea, the editor of the Peaks Weekly Watcher, is pleased to finally have a big story to cover when a body is found in a melting snowbank. But as the season turns into a long, hot explosive summer, the story gets bigger – maybe too big for Bernie to handle. The sequel No News is Bad News, was released in June 2016.
