The Fellowship Gallery, located in the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Brunswick, 1 Middle Streets, continues to rotate exhibits by talented local artists. Starting April 9 through May 13, local artist Jamie Ribisi-Braley will exhibit a group of paintings entitled “Working Through.”
The gallery is open to the public Tue.-Fri. from 10am-4pm and on Sundays from 10-12 noon. Call 729-8515 for more information.
Jamie Ribisi-Braley studied painting, drawing, sculpture, & photography and received a BFA in Painting from Boston University in 2000. She lives in Manchester, Maine.
“Working Through,” the title of her exhibit, reflects layers of the motivation for her art. In addition to working through ideas artistically, Jamie uses her time in the studio to work through her personal struggle with the chronic pain from migraines. Her art is a way for her to work around the pain.
“The painting process is almost wishful thinking of how I want my health to be- having the authority to take something I don’t like and just paint over it. Whether it’s from layer to layer, reinventing the color and composition, or taking a previously finished painting and completely painting over it. Start fresh, take control, and have more energy. Searching for the point when it all feels better.”
