Across Baseball’s Color Line: Philadelphia Colored Giants & Brunswick Leagues in the 1920s and ‘30s
In the early part of the 20th century, northern New England was apparently a welcoming place for Black leagues to play ball. The Philadelphia Colored Giants played numerous games in Maine including in Brunswick against town and mill teams. This lively presentation by a noted media and sports historian shares the story of the PCG team, but also the fascinating tale of a crackerjack Brunswick player, Dominic Paiement, who went on to a long career in the minors.
