Monday, Nov 10 – CLASS: “GREEK WINES: MYTHS & LEGENDS” @ the TAVERNA KHIONE – 5-6PM, 6-7PM:

Join us for the opening event of Brunswick Wine Week, with an educational class on Greek wine. We’ll explore the four major grapes of the region and its history.  Light appetizers will be served to accompany the wines.   Two sessions, with limited seating in each.

Why do we sniff wine? What does the color mean?  What flavors should I expect?  Learn the techniques behind professional tasting with Sommelier, Russell Hewey.  Ticket includes two sample pours of a white and red, guided tasting platform, and QandA.  Take these skills with you all week long!

Please join us in welcoming our favorite cheese guy, Nigel Lindgren – from Rogers Imports – for a fun evening of classic wine and cheese pairings, focused on French and Spanish stylistic examples. There will be six different wine and cheese pairings to explore.

$10 for ½ glass of wine and a small bite at each location.

Acquire your passport at any of the 9 Brunswick Locations participating in our wine crawl.  Earn a stamp at each location you purchase the featured wine and snack.  Acquiring 5 stamps enters your passport into a raffle drawing for three great prizes.  Participating locations: The Abbey, Vessel & Vine, Enoteca Athena, Tess’s Market, Flight Deck, Pub 165, Zao Ze, Taverna Khione, Pomelia.  Check out the passport for additional offerings and timeframes.

Join Taverna Khione with special guest Andreas Zinelis from Cava Spiliadis, as we explore the shape-shifting Agiorgitiko grape and all of its expressions. From sparkling brut, to rosé and reds, they will be offering a 4 course dinner with fantastic wines to pair made from this historical grape.  If allergies or dietary limitations are a concern, please wait for the menu to be released at TavernaKhione.com, as no alterations or substitutions will be offered due to the nature of this event.  Reservations required.

Join us at Pomelia during Wine Week for a special Lunch & Learn on Sicily’s wines and culture, with Special Guest Marie Bradford from Devenish Wines. This immersive afternoon will guide you through the regions of Sicily, exploring the grapes that have become legendary to the land, and the myths and stories that have shaped Sicilian heritage.  Enjoy a three-course lunch thoughtfully paired with five Sicilian wines to sample, as we uncover how history, culture, and terroir intertwine to create some of the world’s most captivating wines.

Saturday, Nov 15 – EVENT: “PIZZA & WINE FEST” @ FLIGHT DECK BREWING – 4-6PM

FREE, no need to RSVP.A fun, family-friendly, social evening featuring Charcuterie Pizza with specialized Wine Offerings by Rileigh Bayard.  Featuring live entertainment by Lisa Belsky, this is the pizza party we can’t wait to attend.  Music will begin at 4:00.

Come join us at Enoteca Athena for a “trade-show” style community tasting event.  Representatives from Vessel & Vine, Enoteca Athena, Tess’s Market, Flight Deck, & Taverna Khione will be present to share two Legendary Grapes at each station. Light refreshments will be served.  Pre-order sheets will be available for your favorites at either Tess’s Market or Vessel & Vine for pick up at a later date.

Sunday, Nov 16 – DINNER: WINE GALA “SOMMELIER TAKEOVER” @ THE ABBEY – 5PM

$125/person, $220/couple, tax and gratuity not included, tickets through Resy.com.

This year’s closing event will feature a 5-course Legendary Tasting Menu prepared by Chefs Kayleigh Roberts & Carlton Trott from The Abbey.  Each course will be paired by a different local wine expert, including Russell Hewey (Enoteca Athena), Nikaline Iacono & Edna Mosher (Vessel & Vine), Mark Provencher (Taverna Khione), Connor Scott & Lainey Catalino (The Abbey), Rileigh Bayard (Flight Deck).  Ticket includes access to the Welcome Reception at 5:00, with Dinner and Wine Pairings to commence at 5:30.  Limited seating.

 

WEEK-LONG EXPERIENCES:

Vessel & Vine will be pouring wines by the half and full glass (as well as flights!) that are legendary to Vessel & Vine. These are the wines that keep returning to our shelves, or wines that have never left: wines so good they shouldn’t be missed and deserve the spotlight. Come try them all.

 

Enoteca Athena will be running a 3-course Tasting Menu all week by Chef Andy Jepeal, featuring two different wine pairing options curated by Sommelier Russell Hewey.  Choose to experience a pairing focused on classic expressions of established, century-old regions that have become “Legends” or the elevated riservas of Italian “Gods” (each pouring from magnums). The Prix Fixe Menu will be offered in tandem with the full dinner menu.  Reservations recommended.  Prix Fixe Menu $65.  Wine Pairing Options: $40 or $70.

 

Pomelia will be offering a special Sicilian Wine Flight.  Try some of the most exciting legendary grapes from the island!

 

The Abbey will be featuring a tribute to timeless dishes reimagined with a modern twist, paired with exceptional wines from around the world. Think of unexpected pairings that elevate the old and introduce the new. Join us for a week of memorable tastes, lively conversations, and legendary dishes that honor the classics while pushing forward into new territories.

Taverna Khione will be serving specialized wine pours throughout the week, featuring legendary grapes (and winemakers) of Greece.  From Assyrtiko to Xinomavro, from rare Mavrodaphne to mouthwatering Retsina, come have a half glass or more and try them all.

 

Tess’s Market will have a special section featuring thematic and discounted wines celebrating 70 years of great wines.  Check out the newest selection of curated bottles to try something legendary.


Flight Deck will be offering wine flights along with a week-long charcuterie pizza special.  It isn’t just pizza and beer anymore – although that’s good, too!
