Learn from the experts in Midcoast Humane’s interactive Zoom classes for you and your dog! Classes are conducted online and run on a five-week schedule, with one class per week. Through rewards-based, positive reinforcement methods, we will teach you how to communicate as your dog learns basic behaviors, leash walking skills and so much more.

2nd Friday Brunswick! ArtWalk, Music, Theater

Because of ongoing concerns with the Covid-19 Pandemic, the BDA cancelled the June 12th 2nd Friday Brunswick ArtWalk but is hosting the July, August, and September events. The August 14th Schedule, Listings, and Map can be found by clicking here and the front page here.

“The BDA is very concerned about the safety and health of the Brunswick Community. Fortunately, we have very wide sidewalks and space to spread out artists, performers and attendees at this event making it more like a series of small events”, said Debora King, BDA Executive Director. “We hope folks will feel comfortable coming to Brunswick to check out the variety of shops downtown and the many outdoor dining opportunities, all while adopting safe practices” she said.  (Maine DECD guidelines for public gatherings can be found at www.maine.gov/decd/checklists/large-social-gatherings)

2nd Friday Brunswick is as an inclusive series of events that encompasses ArtWalk, while also showcasing local shops, restaurants, and artistic talent from a variety of mediums. This event is intended to give residents and visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the arts all within walking distance of Maine Street. Located within Brunswick’s downtown district: Pleasant Street to Mill Street, and along Maine Street, ending at the Fort Andross Mill Complex.

2020 dates: June 12, (cancelled), July 10, August 14, and September 11.

Health Within Reach is an ongoing series of free talks, classes, demonstrations, and healthy lifestyle options offered by the Mid Coast Center for Community Health & Wellness.

37th Annual Trek Across Maine- Register Now for only $25!

Join the American Lung Association for the 37th annual Trek Across Maine on Father’s Day Weekend – June 18th – 20th, 2021. Register Now for only $25, and if you include a self pledge of $35 you will be entered into a drawing to win one of three different prizes- $150 L.L.Bean Gift Card, $100 Gritty’s Gift card, and a $100 Yeti Prize package!

Choose our traditional 3 day, 180 mile option, or join us for our 1 or 2 day options, or do it on your own Virtually! The start and finish line is hosted at the Brunswick Landing and there are overnight stops at Bates College in Lewiston and Colby College in Waterville. This ride is fully supported by volunteers and local and state law enforcement, including support vehicles along the route and three rest stops daily.

-2 day option for those of you that can’t get away for a 3 day vacation! Join us Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the Trek experience!

-1 Day option for those that want to just experience a taste of the Trek Across Maine! Join us on Sunday for the last leg of the ride starting at Colby College!

-Virtual Option for those that can’t get away, but still want to raise money and support the American Lung Association! Record your miles virtually and raise your minimum by June 30th, 2021 to earn your Commemorative T-shirt and Medal!

ROUTE OPTIONS:

The Regular Route:

Day 1: Brunswick Landing to Bates College in Lewiston  (approx. 60 mi) – 3 rest stops located on route

Day 2: Bates to Colby College  in Waterville (approx. 60 mi) – 3 rest stops located on route & 1 water stop

Day 3: Colby College to Brunswick Landing  (approx. 60 mi) – 3 rest stops located on route & last mile staging stop

NOTE: Although we try to be consistent, mileage may vary from year to year depending on local and state construction projects.

2 Day Option

Date: June 20 – 21, 2020

Start Location: Colby College, Waterville, ME

Finish Location: Brunswick Landing, Brunswick ME

Mileage: Approx. 100 Miles

Fundraising Minimum: $400 ($300 ages 7-17)

Age Limit: 7 years and up 

1 Day Option

Date: Sunday, June 21, 2020

Start Location: Colby College, Waterville, ME

Finish Location: Brunswick Landing, Brunswick ME

Mileage: Approx. 60 Miles

Fundraising Minimum: $250 ($200 ages 7-17)

Age Limit: 7 years and up

Virtual Option

Date: Through June 30th 2021

Mileage: Choose your own mileage challenge

Location: Ride in your community and join the Trek tradition….virtually!

Fundraising Minimum: $250 due by June 30, 2021

Age Limit: 7 years and Up

FEES & FUNDRAISING:

Registration is $25 registration fee.  This is non-refundable & non-transferable.  Registration fee does not count toward fundraising minimum. 

3 Day Fundraising: $550 per person ($400 for ages 7 -17)**

2 Day Fundraising: $400 per person ($300 for ages 7 – 17)**

1 Day Fundraising: $250 per person ($200 for ages 7-17)**

Virtual Fundraising: $250 per person (including ages 7-17)***

** Fundraising must be submitted before the start of the ride or you will not be able aloud to ride**

***Fundraising must be submitted before June 30th or you will not receive your Commemorative T-shirt and Medal***

***Note***Age Limit is 7 years and up.  Children between the ages of 7 – 12 must ride a tandem or tag-a-long bike with adult guardian. All children under the age of 18 must have an adult guardian with them at all times on the route. Child and guardian are both required to meet the fundraising minimum.
