To Err is Human: Philatelic Errors and the Stories they Tell 05/14/24 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

To Err is Human: Philatelic Errors and the Stories they Tell

Midcoast Senior College presents a free talk in its Summer Wisdom Series, “To Err is Human: Philatelic Errors and the Stories They Tell” with Richard Neiman. Since the appearance of the first adhesive postage stamp in 1840, hundreds of political entities have issued billions of such stamps. It is natural to expect that among these there would be errors in their production. This lecture will illustrate a number of blunders by a variety of postal entities, tell the unusual stories surrounding some of them, and relate how these stamps have become, pound for pound, among the most valuable items known. Although Richard Neiman has collected postage stamps since his childhood, he is perhaps better recognized as a retired physician and college professor who has taught many courses for MSC on medical- and disease-related topics. Free and open to the public! Sponsored by Thornton Oaks in Brunswick. More information available at https://midcoastseniorcollege.org/project/summer-wisdom-2024/

I Will Be OK Someday, Just Not Today: Group Grief Guidance for Teens Dealing with Loss

Come join us at The Healing Spa for a supportive and understanding environment where teens who have experienced the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling, or friend can come together for comfort and guidance. This event offers a safe space to share experiences, emotions, and coping strategies with others who truly understand. Together, we can navigate this journey of grief and healing. You are not alone.

This group will be led by Maya Manseau, who lost her older daughter to leukemia 11 years ago. She is now offering individual and group healing sessions at The Healing Spa.
