Exploring the Variety of Life: Biodiversity in Maine and BeyondIn the conservation movement, biodiversity is a word that is often used with little or no explanation. This virtual presentation will unpack the various meanings of biodiversity, give an overview of biodiversity here in Maine, and discuss the factors scientists believe lead to more (or less) biodiversity. Maintaining biodiversity is a common goal worldwide – learn why, what it means in Maine and how we can help from Conservation Biologist Nancy Olmstead, The Nature Conservancy in Maine (TNC). Nancy assists the Maine Natural Resource Conservation Program, a mitigation program administered by TNC to conserve, enhance, and restore wetlands and other aquatic habitats. She also assists TNC’s Land Management team, helping to steward TNC’s preserves in Maine. Nancy has previously worked as an educator and a field scientist. Registration is required in order to access the zoom link > www.btlt.org/events/crea-speaker-series-exploring-the-variety-of-life-biodiversity-in-maine-and-beyond/ This event is part of the monthly Cathance River Education Alliance Speaker Series. |
