Save Our Swinging Bridge FundraiserWithout our annual 5K fundraising event, the Save Our Swinging Bridge Org needs your donations more than ever! As an all-volunteer organization, over 95% of all funds go directly to repairing and maintaining the Swinging Bridge. We have mailed out our first Annual Appeal. GIVING TO GROW Fundraising ChallengeSupport the 2021 Giving to Grow Fundraising Challenge – sign up or donate to our participants! WHAT: Almost 15% of Maine households are food insecure. You can help! Volunteer for our fundraising challenge, based on a ‘Walk-a-thon’ or ‘Bike-a-thon’ model. All you need to do is commit to work at the farm for one 4 hour shift and find supporters to sponsor your gardening shift, with a goal of raising $500. WHERE: Growing-to-Give gardens at Scatter Good Farm – 30 E. Coxon Road, Brunswick, ME. WHEN: Tuesday, August 10th – Saturday, August 14th, 8:00am – Noon or 9:00am – 1:00pm. When you sign up, you choose the day and time slot. At the end of the challenge, we will celebrate with the Farmyard Jam, a live music/food/drink celebration which will take place on Saturday, August 14th from 4:30-8:30pm! WHY: Help us continue our mission of providing high-quality vegetables to our neighbors in need through our partnerships with food banks and pantries. Plus, there will be gift cards, t-shirts, food, drinks, and massages available for the volunteers! Summer in the Arctic 2021Join the Arctic Museum for Summer in the Arctic 2021!The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum will remain closed to the public throughout the summer, so we have relocated some of our operations to a tent on the Coe Quad (between Smith Union and Moulton Union). Come visit us Tuesday and Friday mornings in the Coe Quad Tent for summer programming with weekly Arctic themes! July 2 to August 20, 2021 From 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. we will present a themed story and a simple craft for our youngest visitors. From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. we will have programming for teens and adults. Details about weekly themes can be found on our website under the ‘Visit us Virtually’ tab.
