Midcoast CA$H, the free tax preparation service offered by United Way of Midcoast Maine, has teamed up with GetYourRefund to connect people to our IRS-certified volunteers working virtually. This year, because of Covid-19 restrictions, there are 2 options to file taxes with Midcoast CA$H, both of which are safe and secure and require no direct contact.

The first option, the fastest way for people to get their refund, starts by visiting www.getyourrefund.org/midcstme – a fast, reliable, and free service that connects users with Midcoast CA$H’s tax preparers. It is as simple as answering a series of questions, then using a cell phone or computer to upload documents for the tax preparers to review before filing. Judy, a recent CA$H client exclaimed “It’s so easy, I’m embarrassed!” after worrying it would be difficult to use the GetYourRefund website.

The second option is called Scan & Go for people without a cell phone or computer. By calling (207) 295-6340 clients will initiate the process and be sent an intake packet. All the forms needed to file the taxes can be taken to one of the Scan & Go sites in Brunswick, Topsham, or the multiple locations in Lincoln County. All the documents will be scanned into GetYourRefund for the client and immediately returned to them.

Midcoast CA$H is part of the CA$H Maine initiative and this year’s tax preparation service supported by BIW, Bath Savings Institution, Bowdoin College, CEI, Davenport Trust, First Federal Savings & Loan, First National Bank, General Dynamics, John T. Gorman Foundation, IRS/VITA, Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, Maine Women’s Fund, Midcoast Maine Community Action, New Ventures Maine, and Norway Savings.

UUCB Concerts for a Cause
David Wilcox in his East Cost Livestream Concert

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick has had to cancel 12 of their Concerts for a Cause so far because of Covid-19.

However in his East Coast virtual livestream concert to be held on Friday, February 26. It’s not the same aaligns a live concert at the church, but it WILL be live on the Internet and very professionally done, and you’ll be able to make comments that David will see in chat.

Cleveland-born David Wilcox is a singer-songwriter with insightful lyrics, a smooth baritone voice, virtuosic guitar chops, and creative open tunings, giving him a range and tenderness rare in folk music. Wilcox has recorded 20 albums and has a wildly loyal fans following. He was a winner of the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk award in 1988, and in 1989 he released “How Did You Find Me Here” which sold over 100,000 copies the first year largely by word of mouth. His latest release The View From the Edge  earned him the Grand Prize in the 2018 USA Songwriting Contest. In live performance, David loves making up a spontaneous song for an audience member in need. Considered a ‘songwriter’s songwriter’, his songs have been covered by many artists such as k.d. lang. In addition to his writing prowess, his skills as a performer and storyteller are unmatched.

This concert will be an all-request show, so if you have anything you’d like to hear, you can go to the concert page and make your request in the Chat. (If it’s something that David hasn’t played for a while, he will need time to practice it, so make your requests early.
