Exhibition: The Nineteenth Century: American and European ArtThis exhibition features outstanding nineteenth-century paintings and sculptures from the Museum’s permanent collection and highlights collectors such as James Bowdoin III, George William Boyd, and Mary and Harriet Walker who were instrumental in building a fine arts collection at Bowdoin College. Museum HoursTuesday–Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Thursday: 10:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m. Special Sunday hours: 12:00 noon–5:00 p.m. (June 29–November 10, 2019) Closed on Mondays and national holidays.The Bowdoin College Museum of Art is open to the public free of charge, although donations are welcome. FYI! What are Blue Zones?Blue Zones were first introduced in the November 2005 National Geographic cover story “The Secrets of a Long Life,” by Dan Buettner, when he identified five geographic areas of people living statistically longer and enjoying more years of good health. In his presentation at People Plus on Thursday, May 23, 1:30 pm, “What are Blue Zones?,” Randee Reynolds, Vice President of Community Health at Mid Coast–Parkview Health, will present an introduction to Blue Zones, and how lessons learned from studying Blue Zones are helping people live longer and better. He will also outline Mid Coast Hospital’s involvement in identifying the health needs of our community and what strategies are currently underway to address them. Free, open to public.
