Winter Wisdom – Johannes Brahms, “The Young Eagle”*
Mr. George Lopez is the Beckwith Artist-in-Residence at Bowdoin College and a familiar performer/lecturer in the Bath/Brunswick Community. He has received local and international acclaim for his artistry at the piano as well as his insight and depth of context for the works of many composers. He will perform excerpts by Brahms and discuss the conflicted relationship between the composer and his contemporary, Robert Schumann. Mr. Lopez is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music and received his Master’s Degree from the Sweelinck Conservatory, Amsterdam.

Music on the Mall, Downtown Brunswick’s Summer Concert Series, presents FREE concerts Wednesday evenings at 6PM* throughout the summer on the Brunswick TownMOM text test new color Mall (Green, see map). Grab a blanket or chair, bring your family and friends, order a picnic dinner or dine at a local Brunswick restaurant, then relax and enjoy great music. FREE Admission.

Double Take: Art Exhibit by Judith & Burke Long

Points of View print artist Judith Long engages in a visual conversation with photographer husband Burke Long. DoubleTake opens August 6. On the 3rd floor, Beth Heron, Pat Hix and Carolyn Judson are joined by guest artist Middy Thomas for Flora, Fauna, and Beyond.

Reception:  Friday, August 10th, 5-7 pm.

Maine Ulster Scots Project Conference

During the week of August 14 – 18, 2018, the Maine Ulster Scots Project will be hosting a conference at Bowdoin College in Brunswick to celebrate 300 years of Scots-Irish growth and influence in the local area: Three Centuries of “Scotch-Irish” Heritage. This celebration will be capped off by the Highland Games at the Topsham Fairgrounds on Aug 18. We are anticipating between 150 and 200 registrations for the event from outside the area, including approximately 30 from Northern Ireland, and we want to encourage people to come early and stay late to visit the area.

Adult Tennis 123 Program

Have you always wanted to learn the lifetime sport of tennis? Or, did you used to play and you would like to come back? This is the clinic for you! Tennis 123 at Maine Pines is a great way to learn all the strokes in a 3 week session. You will also get free weekend court time and a free cardio tennis class. The class will meet (your choice) one of the following: Tuesdays 9-10 am, Wednesdays 6-7  pm, or Saturdays 10-11am. Come for 3 weeks on your chosen session to learn this great sport! We have rackets you can borrow as well.

Animal Camp

Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter’s Animal Camp is  a fun and educational experience that is all animals all week long! Campers spend time each day interacting with  animals, hearing from shelter professionals, and taking part in fun activities that help animals and raise awareness about sheltering and other animal-related issues. Campers will not only learn about shelter pets, but also wildlife, farm, and even exotic animals!  Camps meet daily for one week and are offered to kids entering grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.

MSMT Peek Behind the Curtain: Singin' in the Rain

The “Peek Behind the Curtain” series runs each month from May through August, featuring a panel of MSMT artists and staff involved in crafting the shows of the theatre’s 2018 season. Broadway World Maine Editor Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold acts as moderator, with a question and answer period to follow. The panel discussions will be followed by a short, informal meet and greet. 

All Peek Behind the Curtain events are free and open to the public.

Walk to End Alzheimer's Kickoff Party
