Opiate Addiction - What is working to fight it!At a time when the addiction crisis seems overwhelming on so many levels, it is important not to overlook those instances where there has been success in treating the underlying causes. “Opiate Addiction in our Community: What is working to fight it!” will be presented by a panel of speakers from Mid Coast Hospital’s (MCH) Addiction Resource Center (ARC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial Library. This free community event is hosted by American Association of University Women Bath-Brunswick branch (AAUW). Panelists will include Catherine McConnell, LCPC, director of Outpatient Behavioral Health at MCH, who oversees the ARC. She will talk about addiction and how it affects the individual, family members and our community, and explain how ARC is responding to the crisis. Other panelist include licensed alcohol and drug counselors and recovery coaches, a family support counselor as well as two individuals who have struggled with substance use and addiction who will discuss its impact on their lives, treatment experience and road to recovery. All are welcome! FMI contact Helene Maraghy 725-5833 or HeleneM81@gmail.com |
