Winter Wisdom – Johannes Brahms, “The Young Eagle”*
Mr. George Lopez is the Beckwith Artist-in-Residence at Bowdoin College and a familiar performer/lecturer in the Bath/Brunswick Community. He has received local and international acclaim for his artistry at the piano as well as his insight and depth of context for the works of many composers. He will perform excerpts by Brahms and discuss the conflicted relationship between the composer and his contemporary, Robert Schumann. Mr. Lopez is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music and received his Master’s Degree from the Sweelinck Conservatory, Amsterdam.

BDA's Annual Meeting

The theme of this years’ meeting is: “A Day in the Life of Brunswick, Maine”.  Register here:

Presentation of Awards: The BDA Annual Report will be presented and several citizens and BDA members will be recognized for their extraordinary service.

Arrive early or stay late to network with local business owners, BDA members and Brunswick residents. Registration & coffee service opens at 7:00, breakfast begins at 7:15, the presentation starts at 7:55.  

$20 individual or $18/each, parties of four or more.

Studio 48 Performing Arts Center is launching a new program for Toddlers starting the week of November 6, 2017.

  • Mondays- Twinkle Star Dance 2-3 pm,  Tumble Tots  3-4 pm  Petite Ballet (ages 5-8) 4-5 pm
  • Tuesdays- Creative Movement   3:45-4:30 pm
  • Wednesdays – Twinkle Star Dance  2-3 pm,  Tumble Tots 3-4 pm

  • Fridays –   November 10-December 22  ( 6 week program),   Fairy Tale Theater  1:20-2:30 pm
  • Fridays –  January 12-February 16, 2018  (6 week program),  Tiny Tot String Class   1:30-2:30 pm

“Narrative and Abstraction in Plains Indian Art: 1850 to the Present”

Janet Berlo, Professor of Art History/Visual and Cultural Studies, University of Rochester, focuses on two modes of artistic expression on the Great Plains of North America. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Art from the Northern Plains at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art.

Berlo’s talk will be followed by the Winter Open House at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art.
