Winter Wisdom – Johannes Brahms, “The Young Eagle”*
Mr. George Lopez is the Beckwith Artist-in-Residence at Bowdoin College and a familiar performer/lecturer in the Bath/Brunswick Community. He has received local and international acclaim for his artistry at the piano as well as his insight and depth of context for the works of many composers. He will perform excerpts by Brahms and discuss the conflicted relationship between the composer and his contemporary, Robert Schumann. Mr. Lopez is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music and received his Master’s Degree from the Sweelinck Conservatory, Amsterdam.

Tea With Harriet

Henry Ward Beecher and the Scandal of the Century.  Harriet Beecher Stowe’s younger brother Henry Ward Beecher was considered the most famous preacher of his day for many reasons. Come learn about his career as a minister, and the famous, year-long court case in which he was embroiled.

Join Stowe House Educator Cathi Belcher each month for Tea and a Talk about Harriet Beecher Stowe in the 63 Federal Street home where she lived and wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin from 1850-52. Teas are held the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1-2:30 pm and are by Reservation Only.

Starting January 2018, due to over-popularity, only ticket holders will be admitted. 

Teas are free of charge but donations to help with food costs and continue programming are much appreciated. Tea With Harriet is sponsored by the Bowdoin College Library.

Studio 48 Performing Arts Center is launching a new program for Toddlers starting the week of November 6, 2017.

  • Mondays- Twinkle Star Dance 2-3 pm,  Tumble Tots  3-4 pm  Petite Ballet (ages 5-8) 4-5 pm
  • Tuesdays- Creative Movement   3:45-4:30 pm
  • Wednesdays – Twinkle Star Dance  2-3 pm,  Tumble Tots 3-4 pm

  • Fridays –   November 10-December 22  ( 6 week program),   Fairy Tale Theater  1:20-2:30 pm
  • Fridays –  January 12-February 16, 2018  (6 week program),  Tiny Tot String Class   1:30-2:30 pm
  • Saturdays-  Broadway Baby Class  9:15-10 am

Tennis for Juniors (JDP)

Junior Tennis at Maine Pines offers a complete developmental progression for all levels! Jr. High players meet from 4-5 pm on Tues, Thurs and Fri. High School players meet from 3-4 pm same days. Pricing is $69/month and includes free court time for all players. Call 729-8433 or email FMI.

Dementia Caregivers Education Series

The Dementia Caregivers Education Series is a free monthly support group offered by Mid Coast Senior Health Center to assist individuals in understanding and caring for someone with memory loss.

Sessions will take place the third Thursday of every month except July, August, and December. Events start at 4:00 p.m.

Ice Bar 2018

Celebrate winter at The Brunswick Hotel & Tavern‘s 7th annual Ice Bar, January 18 – 20th, 5pm to 10pm.  The Ice Bar embraces the cold with a wintry interlude featuring artfully carved bars of ice, frosty drink specials, local brews, an outdoor grilling station, firepits, entertainment, giveaways and most of all lots of Fun!  When it is time to warm up, guests are invited to move indoors to the Robinson Room where a full bar and nightly entertainment keep the party going.

Tickets to the event are available online at or may be purchased at the door on the day of the event.  The Ice Bar has old out in past years, therefore advance purchase is highly recommended.
