Brunswick’s Downtown ArtWalk!

2021 Dates: June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10

Please join us as we take advantage of Brunswick’s wide sidewalks and open space on Maine Street to space out the artists and event attendees at this low key event to make it more like a series of mini events. The BDA is very concerned about the safety and health of the Brunswick Community and we hope people will feel comfortable coming downtown to see the artists displays, the variety of shops, and the many outdoor and indoor dining opportunities, all while adopting safe practices. 

The 2nd Friday Brunswick event will occur from 4 to 7 p.m. on the second Friday of July, August, and September 2020.  Event festivities will include an ArtWalk with over 15 artist displays outside on the sidewalks and in several downtown retail shops. 

Artists interested in participating in 2nd Friday Brunswick should email admin@brunswickdowntown.org or call 207-729-4439.

2^nd Friday Brunswick schedule of activities, map, artist’s openings, and venues will be published in The Cryer newspaper each month. On-street parking and municipal public parking lots are free.

Since the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic continues we have decided to postpone our 2021 Tribute to First Responders – Community BBQ to September. We hope to be able to meet on the Town Mall on Maine Street in downtown Brunswick between 11:30 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, September 11th to celebrate!

Adults: $5 per person. Kids: (5 and under) $3 – all cooked by Celebrity grillers.
Meal includes a choice of hamburger or 2 hot dogs, chips, cookie, watermelon & beverage.

• Tractor-Train Rides by Ray Labbe & Sons

Music on the Mall, Downtown Brunswick’s Summer Concert Series, presents FREE concerts Wednesday evenings at 6 PM throughout the summer on the Brunswick Town Mall (Green- see map).

Grab a blanket or chair, bring your family and friends, order a picnic dinner or dine at a local Brunswick restaurant, then relax and enjoy great music. FREE Admission.

All concerts start at 6 PM unless otherwise noted.
In the case of inclement weather, performances will be held indoor. Location TBD.

Downtown Brunswick’s  Early Bird Sale is taking place this year on Saturday, November 13th! Exciting discounts and special offers from many Brunswick businesses. 

Though the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic continues we are in the process of planning our 2021 Rolling Slumber Bed Races to take place on November 13th at 11 AM on Park Row, Downtown Brunswick.

You won’t have to wonder if you’re dreaming … there WILL be beds racing on Park Row!  In the spirit of Community, families, businesses and local organizations can create a bed to race in this amazing, fun-filled event. The Rolling Slumber Bed Race will delight spectators with fast, funny and uniquely created beds — all on wheels!

Prizes will be awarded for speed, creativity and team spirit. The event is free for spectators. Since the race can be fast-paced, only adults (over age 18) will be able to participate.

Postponed: BDA Speaker Series presents Behind-the-Scenes with Curt Dale Clark has been postponed until Fall 2021. Exact date: TBD.

It’s Showtime!

Join us for the BDA Speaker Series featuring Curt Dale Clark, Artistic Director of Maine State Music Theater as our Speaker Series goes on the road to the MSMT office at 22 Elm Street,  5:30 to 6:30 PM. Registration and networking begin at 5:00.

Discover the excitement that goes on Behind-the-Scenes of a theatre production at MSMT. From set design, costume creation and lighting to auditions and choreography, we’ll learn how it all comes together.

• Refreshments: Appetizers, Beverages (wine, beer, and sparkling water).
• Tours! This is your chance to see MSMT’s prop shop, costume shop, scenery room, welding and paint decks. Tour the recently renovated apprentice quarters.

Ring in the season with neighbors and friends at the Brunswick Downtown Association’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony! Brunswick Town Mall, Maine Street, Brunswick.

Schedule:

• 2 – 5:00: Free horse-drawn wagon rides, hot cocoa, coffee, and cookies.
• 3:00: Santa and Frosty the Snowman will arrive at 3 PM on a firetruck. Children can visit with Santa in the Gazebo.
• 4 – 5:00: The Brunswick High School Chorus will sing carols.
• 5:00: Santa lights the Christmas Tree!
