SEAL at The Theater Project

SEAL will be onstage at The Theater Project September 28th through October 14th.  Performance times are Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, $10 for children (12 and under); Thursday shows are always Pay-What-You-Want. Tickets are available anytime at theaterproject.com or by calling the box office at 207-729-8584.

The Theater Project in Brunswick is excited to open their new season with the world premiere of SEAL an original play written by Clay Graybeal and directed by Michael Rafkin.  This theatrical thriller will have audiences questioning whether lead character Greg Scott is the victim of a government conspiracy or whether he is one of the most deadly men in the world; the staff at the Cumberland Clinic search for answers but each new discovery, in a race against time, only intensifies the mystery.  Author Clay Graybeal is a Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of New England. His career, spanning more than thirty years, concentrates on training students and practitioners in the fields of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Speaking about SEAL, Graybeal reveals that “a good thriller should not be a spectacle but should examine real issues. We remember characters that we care about.” SEAL audiences are kept in suspense as to whether the main character is unreasonably mistrustful of his own government or if he is involved in complicit, covert operations.  Graybeal asks, “When do you call out or stand up to corruption? And what do you do when you discover that you have been manipulated? There is often a seed of truth, or a precipitating event that may be a real cause for concern. It’s not always true, but worth investigating to find out.” SEAL joins a list of other productions that Graybeal has written, including plays THE CALLING and SHADOW SOULS. The Rocky Coast Radio Theater Group has performed his Tumbledown Valley and It’s A Wicked Good Life, both of which were broadcast on Maine Public Radio.
