Points of View Art Gallery exhibits Earth and Sky

Points of View Artists Barbara and Craig Snapp are joined by guest artists Priscilla and David McKeith for Earth and Sky beginning on June 4.  Their show includes stunning landscapes from Maine to California.  On the 3rd floor, Alan Mast uses collage to craft fanciful artwork in Visual Entertainments. American Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive at Mid Coast Hospital Parkview Campus in classrooms 2 and 3.

To donate, please come to the Wellness Center between 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Please visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code “Parkview” to make an appointment.

Walk With Harriet

Join Stowe House Educator Cathi Belcher on an historical walking tour highlighting the important places in Brunswick that Harriet Beecher Stowe frequented as she worked on the writing of Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

The tours will run from June 8 to October 26, rain or shine, leaving the Stowe House at 63 Federal Street every Friday at 10 a.m.  The tours will last roughly an hour, and include stops at seven important sites, both on Bowdoin’s campus and nearby. The BDA has revived 2nd Fridays as an inclusive series of events which will encompass ArtWalk, while also showcasing local shops, restaurants, and artistic talent from a variety of mediums. This event is intended to give residents and visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the arts. 2nd Friday Brunswick offers a fun evening of artistic exploration featuring visual art, live music, dance and theatrical performances, and extended shopping hours all within walking distance of Maine Street. On-street parking and municipal public parking lots are free.

The 2nd Friday Brunswick event will occur from 4 to 7 p.m. on the second Friday of each month from June through September, (June 8th, July 13th, August 10th, September 14th).  Event festivities will include an ArtWalk with over 30 artist displays in downtown galleries, retail shops, restaurants, and on the street.

Sunnybrook Brunswick, Me logoWe are excited to host Jane Knox for a talk about Cuba featuring photography, economics and culture! Learn about how communism effects the everyday life in Cuba through photographs capturing beauty and vision of old and new!

More about Jane Know:

Jane taught Russian language, literature and film at Bowdoin College before retiring in 2012. She was professor Emerita of Russian and Eurasian Studies and has traveled to the former Soviet Union and Russia. Her interest in the survival of minority ethnic groups under the dominance of Communism and the rebirth of national cultures eventually led her to Cuba were she continues to explore today!
