Growing More Crops in Less Space

Even if you have unlimited space, why waste fertility, water, labor, and other inputs on a large area when you can get as much or more from a smaller space? Will Bonsall, author and founding director of the Scatterseed project, joins the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s Winter Garden Workshop to discuss greater use of the third dimension, wide beds, companion planting, living mulches, season extending, and more to help you produce more on the same garden footprint. “Will Bonsall’s Essential Guide to Radical, Self-Reliant Gardening” will be available for purchase and signing at this event.

This event is a fundraiser for the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust’s Tom Settlemire Community Garden; visit to learn more.

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among his employees.
