In preparation for their 2017 summer season at the Pickard Theatre, Maine State Music Theatre will host its second Film Friday May 12 at Brunswick’s Curtis Memorial Library. Featuring the third show of it’s main stage season, the 1978 version of Grease will be screened at 6 PM and take place in the Morrell Meeting Room.
The 1978 film of Grease with songs by Jim Jacobs, Warren Casey, and John Farrar stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Didi Conn, and Jeff Conaway in a nostalgic tale about Rydell High seniors in 1959. A big dance show, it also features a highly memorable score with hits like “You’re The One That I Want,” “Grease Is The Word,” “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” and “Greased Lightnin’.”
The showing will be followed by a talk-back with Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark, who will discuss how the film compares to the stage version. Film Fridays are free and open to the public.
